Flashback Friday!

I think it can be said about most kids but my kiddos LOVE bath time! I recently took a picure of Christian and I after one of his baths and then remembered I had one of Julia too when she was about the same age. So I decided to post them both, hence the flashback Friday reference! Its so fun to see them splash around and have fun. Julia can usually get Christian laughing about something and the laughter is so contagious. It's not hard to over look all the water that gets on the floor after they have had a good laugh in the bath!

After Christians baths he loves to get wrapped up in his doggie towel. You can't leave the bathroom without letting him look in the mirror. He gets a great big grin on his face. We weren't in the bathroom for his picture but he was still so happy to get a picture with mom. I just love how kids smell after a bath, nice and clean.

A new hair cut and smelling flowers!

Well, Christian needed a hair cut again and I got brave and decided to cut it again by myself instead of paying $9 for a trim! I just did exactly what the professionals do by taking a comb and pulling it out and trimming it up. The only hard part is getting him to sit still. Now and again I will see a few spots I've missed and have to go in and cut them, but for the most part I think I did pretty darn good! We decided to spike it because it was finally short enough to do it. I wanted to get a picture of his new doo but he wouldn't sit still long enough so we pulled out Julia fake flowers to distract him. Even a 16 month old can take time out to sit and smell the flowers!

Looking at the flowers

I told him to smell the flowers and he actually did eat.
He usually tries to eat them and thinks that is smelling them!?

Funny faces!

Julia got him to 'cheese' for this picture.
Such an animated little boy!

Dress up

Yesterday was one of those sit around the house days. Julia decided to pull out some of her dress-up stuff. She happened to pull out her ladybug and froggy masks and we even got Christian involved. We had a good laugh. Christian didn't know what to make of himself and after awhile didn't want to play anymore. But we had fun!
Getting his 1st look at his mask?! Not sure what to think?!

Doing his fish face impression!

By getting and playing in the tub Chrisitan didn't
realize he had his mask on so we got some more pics!

A New Home!

Well, after spending the first part of the year frustrated about looking and looking and looking for a house to buy we have come to the conclusion we would rather have a brand new home for the same price as an older, lived in home. So we are in the process of building our first home, and we are super excited. We are building out in Eagle Mountain and couldn't be happier. It's a great area and we are excited to get back out there.

So, I'm a little behind on posting the progress of the home but I've captured some of the process thus far. We are happy that it is moving along smoothly and quickly. Within 2 weeks it went from this..........

The hole

The foundation

All framed and up!

To this......crazy!

Today, Layne and I went out to pick out the tiles, stucco color and stone and they had made even more progress. Most of the windows were in, framing in the basement was almost complete, and things were roughly mapped out where they will go in the home. At the beginning of the process they said we would be in by the end of May beginning of June. We both thought, no way. So a rough estimate we are now getting is mid to end of June. No worries, we are not in any hurry. We just want it done right!

Happy 6th Anniversary!

An anniversary is a time to celebrate the joys of today, the memories of yesterday, and the hopes of tomorrow.

Who we use to be..........

6 years later and this is what we've become!

Its gone by fast. We've had ups and downs, crazy times, fun times and trying times. But its been worth every minute. I wouldn't have picked a better person to go through life with.

Thanks for making me laugh!

Thanks for being such a great dad!

And thanks for being you!

Spring Break Day 5

Well, the last day of spring break and we decided to go to Cabela's to see all the fish and the "stuffed" animals. Julia and Christian loved the fish. We could have watched them swim all day. Julia didn't like the big ugly catfish and neither did I. Then we went on to see the animals. I let Christian out of the cart and he went crazy. Talking and pointing at everything. I think he was mostly excited because he was out running around. We didn't stay long but it was a fun little trip to get out of the house.

Just keep swimming, swimming

Christian loves the horses

Julia wanted me to take a pic of her and
the manequine?? She's actually holding
his hand..........too funny!

Next we went to get some lunch and come home. The rest of the day we just rested and Julia stayed busy watching movies and playing her leapster games. Later that day Kasey came over to watch the kids while Layne and I went out for our Anniversary that's on Sunday. It was a nice little break away from the kids. We got massages and then had a nice steak dinner.

Spring Break Day 4

Well, last night I told Julia that we were going somewhere today and it was a surprise. She kept trying to guess where we were going to go, swimming, the park, grandma Cromwell's, and then she said Disneyland. I so wish we were going but sadly I told her no, not Disneyland. So we got up today and got ready and jumped in the car. I drove up to the mall in Sandy for us to have a little train ride and a carousel ride.
Excited to ride the carousel

Julia was excited when we walked in the doors and saw the Merry-go-round. She told me she wanted to ride the bunny. We had to wait since it wasn't quite open yet. So we headed downstairs to ride the train. Christian was so excited to stand up as we rode the train. Julia picked out the caboose for us to sit in. We played in the play land for awhile so Christian could stretch his legs and run around. It got a little to busy so we went to get lunch before the crowds hit.
All Aboard!

Choo-Choo!

After lunch we took a ride on the carousel. Maybe not such a good idea to do after eating. I did get off a little dizzy. Christian pointed out all the animals he saw by signing what he recognized. Julia was happy that no one else got the bunny before she did.

Well, all in all a fun day out of the house and out of the rain. Another fun morning and once again it wore Christian right out. He fell asleep again in the car on the ride home. He looks so cute when he sleeps :)
All tuckered out!

Spring Break Day 3

Today was pretty uneventful. We stayed home and enjoyed the day. Julia played outside for awhile. I had to rest because I have had a bad headache for the last 2 days. Thank goodness Christian slept for about 3 1/2 hours today to give me a break. Heavenly Father knew I needed a break. It will be rainy and colder the next few days so maybe we can find some place to go inside and have an adventure!

Today I did manage to get a picture of the tulips that I planted in front of my house. I've always wanted to plant flowers at my home and have them come up in the spring. So I finally got to do it. I planted a ton of bulbs in the fall and now I get to see the reward. I love flowers and I am proud of these tulips. They are so  pretty and I get to  look out our front door and see them standing tall each day!

I hope some day to meet God, because I want to thank Him for the flowers.

Spring Break Day 2

Well, I, along with everyone else in the world had the same idea today. We ventured down to Thanksgiving Point to Farm Town. I wanted to get there right when it opened so it wouldn't be to busy but I pulled up and I saw a bus load of kids get off.....GREAT! So I decided to waste some time and wait for the crowds to die down. So we went to get some pictures with all the pretty tulips they had around the grounds. The kids were a little more interested in looking at the flowers than the camera but I got a few good shots.
Beautiful day!

My favorite girl amid my favorite flower!

We decided to hit the farm and the crowds weren't as bad as I thought. First thing we saw were some baby chicks and Christian went crazy. He was pointing and trying to talk and signing birdy over and over. Next we saw some cows and a new baby pony. Christian got brave and went up to the cow and was petting it. Julia was happy to see the new baby pony and kept saying she wanted to pet it but it was staying really close to mama. It was fun to see Christian actually get to see the animals up close.

Petting the cow....He is even saying mooooo

new arrival

The BIG green tractor
We got to ride in a wagon pulled by 2 big draft horses. It was a nice little ride. Julia got to have her pony ride. That was her favorite thing of the day. I think Christian loved the horses and the ducks. We saw some horses and he petted them and even tried to crawl in the stall with them. Man, he is quick if you aren't watching him at all times. He also walked along side some big geese that were talking and squawking at him. And of course he made his famous duck noise. Christian really liked the big tractor they had out. He kept running over to it. Julia climbed up the steps and Christian kept saying car, car and waiting to climb in the tires. Its fun to see how excited they get over simple things we see everyday.

Her pony ride!
Next we stopped for lunch. Julia was most excited about her free ice cream she got for being so good and eating lunch. I got Christian a cone too and he loves to hold it all by himself, which is so messy, but today I just didn't care! Julia gobbled hers right up and Christian took his time eating the cone from the bottom end first, it was funny to watch.
YUMMY!
It was a fun morning and it was a nice sunny day. The kids had a good time and I'm glad we got to make some more memories. Christian must have really enjoyed it because he felt asleep on the way home!

Our New Addiction

We know we are a little behind the times. This show only came out over 10 years ago but we have finally given in. Layne never wanted to start it because he knew it was going to be a BIG commitment. But he finally said lets do it and it's now become our new addiction. We probably get an episode or 2 a night, a few times a week, when the kids finally get in bed. We are both so glad we have this on netflix so we can just watch it whenever. I said to Layne one night, " How could anybody watch this when it was on TV. You have to wait a whole week just to see what finally happens or resolves."

Its funny to watch Layne watch the show. He is so into it and just about every time we get done watching it one of us or both us will say, "Are you kidding me?!" They leave you hanging every single time. I've never seen a show that was that good and letting you hang on the edge of your seat every episode. Layne usually says,  "I have to take a break its just way to intense." And I'm over on the couch dying to watch the next show because I want to see what happens. Man, it is intense but we love it. Only 161 more episodes to go. At least its getting to be summer where there is nothing to watch on TV at night so we can focus on our new addiction :)

Spring Break Day 1

Well, with it being spring break I wanted to be able to go and do some things with my kids to get them out of the house. Julia doesn't have school for the week and I know I need to keep her entertained some what or we will both go crazy.

So today we got up and went over to see the ducks at the pond. I knew we were getting a late start and hoped the ducks would still be out. And I really wanted to have Christian see the ducks in real life and not just on a TV screen.

So we got there and we got out our bread and oatmeal and started to throw some in the water to see the ducks would come over to us. Eventually they did come over and Christian went crazy. I heard Christian behind me making his duck call and so I had to grab him out of his stroller so he could see them up close. (Side note: Christian usually signs when he sees an animal. But for the word duck he actually makes this super funny noise with his mouth. I don't even know how he does it but he actually sounds like Donald Duck.) So I put him down and he is pointing at the ducks and signing birdy. It was so cute I wish I had the video camera. Julia was excited too and was really good at tossing the bread out to them. She even tried to sneak up on a few that were sleeping but they quickly got into the water.

Tip toe, tip toe

It was a visit to see the ducks. While we were leaving Christian was making his duck noise all the way to the car. After the ducks we went to play at the park. Its hard to go with Christian because you have to chase him down the whole time because he loves to just wander off and explore on his own. Julia is great at playing and trying to help Christian. We did venture over to another park today because Christian kept getting gravel in his shoes and Julia wanted to ride her bike.

Having fun at the park

Stopped to get a picture and this
is what I got :)
