Family Scavenger Hunt........

Instead of a game night this month we did something a little different. We decided on a picture scavenger hunt. That way even the kids got to get in on the fun. It was Kristy's idea and I was all for it. We went out and picked out team colors to wear for armbands or bandanna's. She decided teams before hand. It was planned out and really fun. I think everyone was apprehensive at first but once they got rolling it was a blast. It was fun to see what each team came up with.

Meet the competitors:

Here were the rules of the game:
1. At least two members of your team must be in the picture.
2.  Your team colors need to be in each picture.
3. No more than two pictures in one area-hoping to get people to go more places.
4. Be back at the house in 1 hour and 15 min and if you are late you get points taken away.
5. You must stay within certain city limits

Each team was given the following list and you had to find as many as you could in the allotted time frame.

As you can see we all make quiet the list.  I  can't speak for the rest of the family, because I am sure each one has their own experience they had doing this photo scavenger hunt.  I can tell you mine though.  It was frantic, crazy, hot, fast, fun, silly, tiring, exciting, all wrapped into one.  It was so fun trying to find and figure out the order in which we were going to get this whole list done in a little over an hour.  It was going to be tough but I was ready for the challenge.  Once every one got in the car, we were all off.  It was fun getting complete strangers to help us out. Some  people gave us strange looks, others we put a smile on their face. It was amazing how many people let you help them when it was for something so crazy as a scavenger hunt.  I have to say some of the thing we found were pure luck. The slug bug, and getting a group shot with us all wearing hats or all at a stop sign.  People just happened to be walking by at the right time.

We meet this really nice guy that let us take a picture of his Slug Bug car, and a man that could barely speak English take a picture with us at the stop sign.  I wonder what he must be thinking, " What? Why do they need me to take a picture of this stop sign"  What an example of lost in translation.  I was on turbo speed, Kristy I think was a little worried if we were going to make it back alive, and poor Jane and Christian were along for quite the ride.   It was tough having to buckle them some many times, but safety first!  I  think Jane and Christian, did have a good time.  We couldn't seem to move fast enough the time was going by so fast.  We had to really make some quick decisions on how and where we were going to go to make the most of our time.

We all made it back right at the same time.  Everyone seem pretty excited about all the pictures they got. We had everyone to bring a dessert to share, so while Kristy uploaded all the pictures had refreshments.  Once everything was uploaded we connected the laptop to the TV and we all got to see the pictures everyone took on the big screen instead of crouched around a small laptop.  It was so great to see what everyone did, you could take things literally or not when taking pictures.  It was fun to see where everyone went and in what direction.  My team only ran into Dad, Layne, and Caleb.  Most took a similar path except my sister and I went down to the  Wal-mart area.

It seem like a great activity for everyone.  A chance to be silly have a little fun and spend time with those we love most.  And the overall winners of the night were  The Purple Cheetah Group, Kasey, Amy, Kate, and Peyton.  It was a close race everyone got about 31 and they winning team got 32.  My dad had some camera issues and wished more of his teams pictures came out, we gave them credit for at least going to all the places, it wasn't an easy list.  Until next time family.... We will see who wins!!!  Some of the highlights of tonight pictures displayed below enjoy!

In the Good Ol' Summer Time..........

Since I didn't want to blog each separate thing we did this summer, I thought I would just make one big entry to show you what we did do. We had a rough start to summer and a rough ending but the middle was great! So here's to summer :)

We found out that Christian loves pancakes....so we started most summer mornings with a pancake breakfast......YUMMY!

Julia and I went to see Peter Pan at the Jr. High in Alpine. It was a great show and she loved that Peter Pan and all the kids flew all around the stage!

We went to visit daddy at work and went out to  lunch with him.....the kids loved it.

I got a new bed spread for my room. Its a much more calmer/cooler color than the red I use to have....and Layne says he really liked it too!

We got out of the heat by going to my sister Kristy's to play in the pool. It was cool and relaxing!

We made up games. I bought nerf dart guns for the kids. Then we made rings worth points so they had a place to shoot the darts. Everyone got in on the action. Christian always wants to get out his "shoot gun" and play.

My mom brought back a souvenir shirt from her trip back to Michigan.....they say Lake Michigan, Unsalted.....Thanks Grandma Mott

Christian was a big help this summer. He loved to water the flowers...he even helped at gma Cromwell's house too. Thanks Christian!

We went to beach themed birthday parties......
And visited and played with cousins!

We spent time outside, hula hooping, playing ball, and playing with turtles.

We also enjoyed nature, saw a beautiful red moon, enjoyed sunsets and playing in the rain.

We had a camp out in gma/gpa Mott's backyard. The kids thought it was great. We roasted hot dogs and even made s'mores over the little charcoal grill. We watched a movie to calm everyone down and then hit the hay!

We traveled and explored new places.........

We goofed around and had a lot of fun and by the end of summer we were utterly.....................

EXHAUSTED! Thanks summer, we will miss you!
