Happy Halloween

Julia was so excited to wear her costume to school. And I must add it was so easy to get her ready this morning. No fighting and screaming, instead it was excitement and joy. She wasn't allowed to wear full face paint so we kept it tame for school. She looked really cute.

The kids were excited to go Trick-or-Treating. Julia was excited about her face paint and Christian wasn't thrilled that he had to put on a Lion costume. But we all had fun! I should have dressed up as a bear....then we could have marched up and down the streets, " Lions and Tigers and Bears, Oh My!" Anyway, the kids couldn't get to each door fast enough. After they each said "thank you" at each door you could hear Chrisitan add, "Happy Halloween!" He was so stinkin cute! They both got lots of complements. Julia wanted to go all night and wouldn't slow down. Christian insisted on carrying his own bag of candy that was always dragging on the ground. About half way through the night he pulled off his hood and started pulling up his costume saying, "I want this OFF!" I told him we were almost done and that to get candy you have to keep the lion suit on. He kept it on all night and as soon as we walked in the door he started stripping down to his underwear. He had had enough. Julia on the other hand wanted to wear her face paint to bed.

They wanted to ROAR all night long!

A great soccer season..........

Julia had a great soccer season. She LOVED it. She was always excited to play and she was one of the best defensive players. After her last game she got a bracelet from the coach and her medal and certificate. She loves to wear it around and show everyone. It was a great season....I can't wait for the next one. WAY TO GO JULIA!

Curtains.......

I had picked out fabric for curtains in my bathroom so long ago that I actually forgot about them. So once I found the fabric I made a call to my sister(who sews) and asked if she could come help me. She agreed and I was glad. It was our first attempt at making some curtains from scratch. The process was long and took a lot longer than anticipated but they turned out great! My sister even made me sew a little to say that I had actually helped. Its only a straight line, right?! Anyway, a big thanks to Amy for all her help!
As soon as we pulled out the sewing machine we had the kids attention. They were both fascinated with the process. Christian even found out what the little pedal does on the floor.

Fall Break.........

It's always a struggle to have things to do for the kids on any type of break they have from school. We always try and find fun things to do with them. Whether its a movie day, swim day, or a craft day.

So my sister volunteered her house this year to do some Halloween crafts and for the kids to play outside in a gated backyard. It was perfect weather and it gave them the opportunity to wear themselves out and to give the adults some sanity.

The first thing we made were Halloween Monsters. We took a piece of paper and dropped paint in spots on the paper and then folded it in half. Open it up and then decorate your masterpiece. It was fun and the kids got messy. We had some very unique monsters.

We also made spider webs by rolling a marble around in paint and then rolling it all around a piece of paper. It was super easy and all the kids could roll around the marble in the pie tin all by themselves. Once done we had to get a few pictures to document the occasion!

So the last day of fall break we decided to get out of the house. We took a little drive in the van because the kids love to watch a movie and jam to the music. We went to Toys-r-Us to create a little Christmas list for each kid. Well, with 5 kids that's not so easy. We knew it would be chaotic but all in all it wasn't to bad. They went from one section to another very quickly and lists became longer and longer. After looking at toys forever we decided to spoil our dinner and go to Krispie Kream and see how they make the donuts. We got there just in time to see them finish a batch of chocolate glazed donuts. The kids loved to see each step in the process, it's pretty cool. Finally, we got to pick out a donut and some milk. They each put on a hat and sat down to eat. It was a hectic day but by the end of it all we had accomplished exhaustion! Back to the normal routine tomorrow!
