Easter Weekend......

We decided to head up to Preston, ID, for the Easter weekend. Everybody was excited to go and visit family. Julia was most excited about the egg hunts!

It was fun. We started off Saturday with a neighborhood egg hunt. They went from yard to yard to collect eggs. Christian couldn't wait for it to start so he decided to head off early and gather as many as he could. He especially liked all the green eggs. It was too cute...he found so many he couldn't carry them all. He was excited to see what each egg had inside. Julia took off with grandpa and came back with a basket full of eggs. She had a great time!

At noon grandma and grandpa had a big egg hunt in the yard for all the grandkids. They had gotten about 200 eggs so it was a free-for-all! I think the kids got more easter candy than they did at halloween but they loved it. They also each got either a big gold or silver egg. They had to bring their eggs over to the table and open them up. Each one was empty. Grandpa asked why all the eggs were empty and what the true meaning of Easter was. The kids all had the right answers, "The tomb was empty." "Christ was resurrected." "He died for us."

And their off.........

Easter morning the kids got to put on their new easter outfits. Julia loved her dress and they both looked so cute in their matching purple. (My camera has issues so of course the pictures are not the best)

Picture of the Week.......

We had to make a run to the after hours clinic last night because Christian was using the couch as a trampoline and happened to fly off the edge and land on the toy box. All we saw was Christian flying over the edge and heard a big thud. Layne went to pick him up and he was gushing blood. So we ran upstairs and wiped it all away and it was a deep cut. I got woozy (I tend to do that with head wounds) and had to sit down while Layne tried to bandage him up for the car ride. I drove while Layne held him in the back seat. We got to the insta-care minutes before closing but so did 5 other people who were ahead of us, so it was a long wait. But Christian was just fine, his normal rambunctious self. We finally got back to get the stitches and that was where I, again, didn't do so when. At least I know my limits and I'm glad Layne was there to help. We had to wrap him up in a blanket and hold him down and boy he did not like that. He was screaming "hurt" and "owey" while they cleaned the cut and were put the numbing shot in. And of course the gut retching scream for 'mommy' the whole time. I hate that, I couldn't do a thing for him, let alone stand by him to try and comfort him because my body couldn't handle it. But while we waited for the doctor to come and stitch him up I was able to go over and stand by him and try to calm him down. He finally gave up and passed out fast alseep once they started putting the stitches in. I on the other had was sitting over in a chair trying not to pass out. He woke up and wanted me and so I finally got to hold him and then he got a popcicle for doing so great. Obviously it was harder on me than anything. I knew he was ok but just hearing the crying and the hurt makes your heart break. But all in all he is doing well and is really a tough kid!
A happy kid despite the 4 stitches!!

Women Are Rock Stars!

Last night we had our Relief Society Birthday celebration for the sisters. We put so much effort and hard work into the evening and it was fabulous! I think we all really enjoyed ourselves and that was the whole purpose, to have a fun evening and celebrate women of all ages!

Its hard to see but we wrapped the whole gym in purple vinyl table cloths
Decorations for the tables
It was a Rock-n-Roll theme. "Solid as A Rock.....Women are Rock Stars!" So we decorated the whole gym in purple and hung stars from the ceiling. We were also suppose to dress in our favorite rockin roll attire. So even though dressing up is not my cup of tea, I kinda felt obligated because I was in charge of the meeting. So I dressed up like I did back in Jr. High. WOW! What a blast from the past. I had Julia take a picture of me so I could show all of you. No laughing, ok you can laugh but just not around me! Anyway, I was one of the few that did dress up but everybody loved the outfit....so that made me feel a little better!

Rockin the side pony tail and big bangs....ugh
We had a little dinner and dessert and then we were entertained by some of the priesthood in our ward. The YM presidency lip synced a song, Layne and his cousins sang an Elvis song, the Johnson family all played and sang, and even the Bishopric sang live and did an awesome job and the sisters loved it. I kinda volunteered Layne for the position but I knew he could do it and he would enjoy it. He always does such a great job and I really appreciate him sharing his talents with the sisters!

"Won't You Wear My Ring Around Your Neck"
All in all it was a great evening and it was the best RS birthday celebration I have ever been to and that's why I wanted to share it with all of you. After the entertainment we had a lady in our RS presidency give a little message as why women are rock stars. Here is what she presented to us as it related to women not just parents:
So very, very true especially in the stage of life I am in right now!

Happy Birthday Layne.......

Layne's birthday happen to land on a Saturday. So we got up and went to play at the nicklecade at Layne's request. Everyone had a blast. Christian and Julia love to play everything, even though they didn't put any money in. They love to see how many tickets come out of the machine when they are done.

Playing Air Hockey...they both are pretty good!

After a quick bite to eat we went home to relax. Later on we had Layne's birthday celebration. We had coconut cream pie and presents. Both the kids had to help blow out the candles. I think Layne really enjoyed opening his gifts. He had a surprised look on his face for all of them. Everybody did a great job at giving him something he could really enjoy.

Smelling the mickey gift cards he got from the Mott family....He LOVED it!

A look of surprise for the Cromwell gift....He LOVED it!!
A new shirt to show his support for his favorite bball team!

It was a great day and to top it off we actually went to Todd and Vanessa's new house to have a game night. We didn't tell anyone it was Layne's birthday because he didn't want to take away from the game night and have the attention on him. It was so fun and we played every one's favorite new game.....Reverse Charades. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. It was guys against the girls and the boys were so funny. But in the end the girls did prevail. Anyway.....Happy Birthday Layne!! We love you!
