Star Student

Julia came home last week and was so excited to tell me something. She said mom guess what? I get to be the Star Student next week. And that's all we heard about all weekend. She has wanted so badly to be the star student but has never gotten the chance until this week. In every one of her prayers over the weekend she mentioned having fun in school and that she was excited to be the star student. To say the least she was excited. Last night walking to her room before bed I heard her say ( in a cute little voice)....."I get to be the star stuuudent!"
Julia and daddy filled out the poster
She brought home an "All About Me" poster she had to fill out and color. She took it in to school today and she gets to stand up in front of the class and go over her poster. She told me she gets to pick on a student to guess what her favorite color and food etc. are. I also asked her what she gets to do as the star student and she told me that they always get to be the first one in line and they get to be a special helper in class all week. Her poster gets to hang up in front of the class all week and then at the end of the week all the kids in her class make a book for Julia to take home.

Here is to our STAR STUDENT! Great Job Julia.....Way to go!

The Death Trap......

Well, we have a huge hazzard on our hands.....our front steps!  We have come to find out that our house sits at a bad angle for the winter....it doesn't see the light of day. It's been so cold that if any snow has melted it has dripped onto our front steps. because our rain gutters are full of ice.Well, today I woke up and saw that ALL of our front steps were covered in about 3 inches of ice. This is the worst it's been. Usually it's only a few steps but it must have melted and just built up and then froze over night. It's so dangerous. We haven't had any bad injuries or accidents but a few close calls.

The death trap!
The culprit....the drip!
No where for the water to go!
Thank goodness today it really warmed up that most of the ice became soft. I borrowed a handy tool from the neighbors that's like a huge ice pick and I picked away at the ice for an hour. So our front steps are clear but just in time for the next snow storm to blow in.

Obsessed.......

Christian has a few new obsessions. Chocolate and money. The whole time we were visiting gma and gpa Cromwell for Christmas all you would hear Christian say was, "Chocwate," and "Money." He loves to play with grandma's Disneyland bank. He takes all the money out and loves to put it back in the bank because it will play music. Well, he also just likes to carry around the money and play with it. Every person he sees he will tell them what he has or if he finds more money he loves to come show you and just say, "Look, money, money." Over and over again. He also loved playing with all the pirate money grandma had. He would just carry around hand fulls of it all day long. At nap or bed time you had to pry it from his hands and say the money had to go nite, nite too! He was satisfied with that answer but as soon as he woke up he would ask where the money was. So funny!

We have gotten so many treats for Christmas and even the chocolate Christmas countdown every day has Christian accustomed to asking for "chocwate" all day long and every day for that matter. If he sees it out on the counter he drags a chair over to the counter and tries to get at it. He knows where it is hiding up in the cupboard and won't give up asking until he gets a piece. Most of the time I give in but when that's all he is asking for even over regular food it gets to be a bit much. So occasionally we do have to say no and that brings out the whining and the crying and the tantrums. Its a little ridiculous but cute at the same time. Hopefully we can ween him off before he becomes diabetic :)

Our candy cupboard
"CANDY"
Unwrapping it all by himself
Popping the whole thing in his mouth
He loves to get the chocolate and take the wrappers off all by himself and if you try and help he gets really mad. He does a good job putting the wrappers in the garbage too. He usually pops the whole piece in his mouth and takes his time eating it. He loves his chocwate!

The escape artist......

As of today Christian can now escape his the pack-n-play he's been sleeping in since birth. Layne had gotten up this morning before me or the kids and then I heard Christian crying but it didn't last very long. Little did I know he had climbed out of his bed all by himself. Layne thought I had gotten up to get him out and I thought Layne had gotten him out. It was confirmed later in the day when Christian got out all by himself after his nap.
Julia didn't start climbing out of her crib until she was about 2.5 years old. So she was a little older and stayed in bed a little better than Christian has. Christian on the other hand just barely turned 2 and is a climber so it was bound to happen. I just wish he would have figured it out a little bit later like Julia did. Oh well, what can you do?!

So for now we took the extra bed from under Julia's bed and put it in Christian's room. Its nice because its close to the ground and a good starting bed in case he falls out he won't fall so far. He was excited to see it in his room and layed right down with his blanket and kitty cat. Only problem is he won't stay in bed at all at night. And for the last few nights he hasn't gone to bed until about 10:30-11:00pm. He just gets out and roams around the house or will come downstairs to find us. We should just shut his door but he just screams and pounds on the door. But at least he would stay in his room....we might have to try it out. Eventually he will fall asleep, right?! So I've had to rock him to sleep for him to even stay in bed at night. I know he will learn to stay in bed but this might take awhile and it's certainly cutting in to my own sleep time. Heaven help us!
