Flashback Friday....Chicken Pox

The year was 1983, in Jackson, Michigan. I was the first to get sick. I remember being up really late and getting to watch TV. (our bedtime in that day was 8 pm so staying up late, whether sick or not, was a treat!) I remember feeling soooo sick and then the next day the red spots appeared. I had the chicken pox. Bring on the Camiline lotion...that stinky, peptol bismal pink stuff that stopped the itch. Then slowly we all ended up with the spots. I also remember my dad getting chicken pox as well. I guess he never got them as a kid and he was hit pretty hard as I recall. This is a picture of us all fitting into the tub amazingly enough. This must be at the end of it all because none of us really have that many spots left, only traces. Love Kristy's expression! She was always the ham!!

Socks

Julia was up watching Curious George and found some of daddy's socks to play with. Layne called me out from work and said she put them on all by herself. I got a little chuckle....too cute!!

Flashback Friday....2 Favorites

These are two of my favorite pictures of me and my sisters. Its a Then and Now picture. First one is a picture of all the girls just after Kasey was born in 1983. I love Kristy's expression. I don't remember getting this picture taken but I just love it. The bottom picture was taken in either 1995 or 1996. We took a ride up the American Fork canyon and took a bunch of pictures. I think we used this one as our Christmas picture for the year. All dressed in plaid shirts....NICE!!! Hey, they were in style :) My mom still has this one up and framed in the house. I love my sisters and they are my best friends. I'm greatful we are so close and can talk, cry, and laugh about anything. What a blessing to be able to talk to them everyday and have them be a part of my life. Love you guys!!!

Nightly Routine

Julia and Layne have a new nightly ritual. One night before bed Julia sat and watched an episode of Curious George on Layne's lap. The next night Julia was ready for bed and walked up to Layne with her blankie in hand and said, 'Monkey?' It was sooo cute. So now each night we get Julia all ready for bed and then she gets to watch an episode of Curious George with Daddy. She loves to dance when 'monkey' comes on and then will sit nice and quiet until its done. It certainly does calms her down before bed. Its her new favorite show and she would watch it all day long if she could!!

Crazy Dress Up

Julia has a big basket of toys in her room and has a few things to dress up in. She came out of her room where this get-up??? I little black snowman hat, a pink tu-tu, a little wand stuck down the back of her shirt, and a pink binki.....Crazy kid.....Its weird to see the binki in her mouth because she never used one..she will occasionally be found biting on them!! I need to get her some more dress up clothes...Her birthday is coming!

Bath Time

I was working one night and Layne was giving Julia a bath. He called me away from work...(a needed little break) and said come find Julia. Julia?? This is what I found....too funny!!

American's Creed

In 1917, William Tyler Page of Maryland won a nationwide contest for "the best summary of American political faith." The U.S. House of Representatives accepted the statement as the American's Creed on April 3, 1918. Its two paragraphs remind us that responsibilities are the source of rights. It deserves to be read and recited. Today very few people have even heard of it. So this is why I wanted to share it with all of you!! Happy 4th of July!!!

I believe in the United States of America as a Government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic; and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice, and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.
I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to LOVE IT, to SUPPORT its Constitution; to OBEY its LAWS, to RESPECT its FLAG, and to DEFEND it against all enemies.
` William Tyler Page

Baseball and Fireworks....Flashback Friday!

This was our first year married on the 4th of July 2006 and we went to a Bee's Baseball game. We enjoyed an unusually cool July summer night watching the ball game and then enjoying a great fireworks show afterwards. I think this has become a family tradition because we also went last year with extended family in tow and Julia was 11 months old. And we will be attending the 4th of July game this year as well. There is just something about celebrating the 4th with family and enjoying an All American past time (even if it is minor league baseball.) And to top off the evening we get to enjoy a wonderful fireworks display.

The 4th is one of my favorite holidays. The picnics, parades, everyone and everything is clad in RED, WHITE and BLUE!! Celebrating tradtions with family and friends and especially the FIREWORKS!! The freedoms we have are so precious. I am proud to be an American and I am truly greatful for all the men and women who fight to keep us FREE. I love this country! Happy Birthday America!!
