We all know what the wicked witch says while she is melting.......well this phrase has become popular in our home. Its typically said by Layne when Julia is having a tantrum or a very dramatic moment.
The other night Julia was sitting with Layne and Christian in the recliner and Christian was just bawling his head off. Layne was trying to settle him down and this conversation took place.........
Julia: " Daddy say What A World."
Layne: "What a World, What A World!"
I about died laughing :)

Everyday Life
LIFE with 2 kids is proving to be challenging for sure but I am certainly up for it! I am starting to settle into a routine with each of the kids. As long as I have things for Julia to do or help with she pretty much takes care of herself :) Christian is getting into more of a routine with eating and sleeping and I know that will only get better with time!
Julia is a typical 3.5 year old. Always talking or into something. I find her every morning at the kitchen table watching a video, usually with her giant headphones on, and eating a combination of 2 cereals. She LOVES her cold cereal and her oatmeal with raisins! Her new favorite thing to do is play the Wii. We have a few games that she can actually play and can spend most of the day playing on it.
Lately I have been letting her help me with making dinner and she looks forward to it. The other day she helped me make stuffed shell pasta and tonight she helped make homemade pizza.
By the end of the day she is ready to take a bath and get ready for bed. She loves the new 'fizzy balls' I got for her. They are really vibrant and turn the water different colors. She loves to combine two colors and come out with something different.
Blue and Yellow = Green
Julia is still OBSESSED with her princess tent she got for Christmas. She won't sleep in her own bed anymore. She takes her naps there and sleeps there each night. She loves to read her books by 'flashlight' at night and when I come to check on her she usually has Jessie and Bullseye, Blue and all her books in there with her.
Christian is a good baby and is getting better with his sleep. He is settling into a routine and at times will sleep 5-7 hours at night which makes me so happy! He is growing so fast and still loves to eat!

Scripture Reading
Julia is learning about the scriptures this year in Primary. So for FHE a few weeks ago we made a committment as a family to read the scriptures together every night. We have been perfect for 2 weeks and I can tell its made a difference. We read right before Julia goes to bed each night and we are reading the comic book version so Julia can look at the pictures. When we first started she wanted to turn the pages and was distracted easily. Now she looks forward each night to reading and learning who each person is in the scriptures.
Just the other night before we began to read Christian was bawling and we couldn't get him to settle down and Julia was just really cranky and whiny. But when we started to read the scriptures all became very quiet and calm. Christian stopped crying and Julia stopped and really listened to the story that night. The scriptures are POWERFUL and it has brought the Spirit into our home.

All Smiles :)
Last week was rough to say the least. Layne had gone in for surgery over the weekend and then Julia and I got really bad colds again. So we have been stuck in the house trying to rest and get better and trying not to kill each other. Well, enough of the bad because we are on the mend and doing better. These pictures of Christian were the highlight of my week.....the last few days he has been a very smiley boy!! Thank you for making me SMILE too despite the rough week we had!!

Christian 1 month old
Christian is already 1 month old today! I can't believe how fast this first month has gone. He has been a joy to have in our family. He has filled out a lot and is growing so fast! We went in for a check-up and he is up to 8 lbs. 4 oz. Since our last check up, 2weeks ago, he has gained a pound and a half!
Besides eating, sleeping is what he does best! He's not sleeping through the night but we have a sleep routine as crazy as that may be. He wakes up every 3-4 hours so at least I'm able to get a little rest during the night!
Julia has been really great at adjusting to a new baby in the house. The first few nights we had him home she would wake up every time Christian did. She would wander into my room and ask what was wrong. I assured her everything was alright. It was cute to see her so interested and concerned about him. She has been a really great 'big sister!' You will often hear her say, "Hi, buddy," that's what she calls him. She is a big help with helping me get diapers and the binky. She loves to sit by him and just be with him!
Christian is a really good eater. Loves to eat and it feels like thats all he does! He also is really good at holding his head up. When he is wide awake he sits contently and just soaks everything in. He will follow your voice and just loves to look around!

First official bath. Not to happy about this but what kid would be! He was a little more content being wrapped up and dry!
We tried out the swing and sometimes he's content and other times he doesn't like it so much.

Sports Nut?!
Layne has been cleaning out and organizing our storage room for the past few weeks and came across some things Julia wanted to play with. She put them on and kept them on for the rest of the day. She had fun helping Daddy organize his sports stuff. Hopefully being around all of it will rub off on her!!
Football, Basketball or Baseball?!
A Giants or Notre Dame Fan perhaps?!
Old school with the head sweat band!

Princess Tent
One of Julia's favorite new things is her princess tent. She got it for Christmas from her great grandma Parker. And ever since we put it up for her she spends alot of time in it! You can usually find her playing with her toys or reading her books in her new favorite spot. At night she refuses to sleep in her own bed anymore and says she wants to sleep in her tent. She tells me its like camping! She LOVES her new tent....Thanks Grandma Parker!!!

A Sunbeam!!!
My little Julia is a SUNBEAM!! I can't believe it....it seemed just like yesterday that I was dropping her off to play in nursery. So about a week ago Julia got a letter from the Primary Presidency letting her know what the theme for primary will be this year and who her new teachers will be. She was so excited to get her own little card in the mail. So ever since then I have been talking up primary.
All weekend long I've been telling her that she won't be going to nursery anymore and that she will be a Sunbeam in Primary! I told her she gets to in the 'big' room with all the 'big' kids and sing songs. She seemed pretty excited. Today she woke up and said, "I get to go to primary today!" She also said "I will cry a little"....but I said "no way, you won't cry because you are such a big girl." She agreed and didn't seem a bit nervous until we walked up to the front of the primary room. She met one of her teachers and then grabbed my hand...she was a little nervous and shy but I told her we would be back to get her after our class. She let me leave but we still had Daddy check on her.
Layne checked on her a few times and said that she was standing up with her feet behind her on the bar standing through the chair....I even explained to her the rules. We need to seat in our seats or the teachers will bring you back to mommy and daddy for not staying in your seat. Well I guess she forgot. Layne had to take her to the bathroom and on the way back down the hall they started singing the snowman song. Layne said "hey, that's your song Julia," and so she ran back to the room to go sing!
After church was over I met Julia out in the car and she had a crown on her head. "I AM A CHILD OF GOD." She was so excited and said, "Mom, I didn't cry!" I asked her if she had a good time and she said, "YES!" She was so excited to show me her CTR ring and a Popsicle sucker. Her teacher told Layne when he picked her up that she even said the opening prayer in class.
I asked her what songs she sang and she said the snowman song and Book of Mormon song. She also told me that Nephi came to see them in primary and talked to them. The theme for Primary this year is: I know the scriptures are true. So I guess they had some of the Young Men in the ward dress up as Book of Mormon characters and they came into the primary. She was so excited to talk about her experience and all that she did today. I was so glad that the transition from nursery to primary went so well.....I guess she really is growing up! I'm excited to see her go through this year to see what she will learn and how her testimony will develop and grow!
