A Horse Back Ride and An Ice Cream Social

Last Saturday was a beautiful day and later in the evening it was perfect to have my mom saddle up Annie for the kids to have their own free horse ride. I told Julia what we were going to do and she got so excited and couldn't get to grandma's fast enough. She even put on her cowgirl boots to ride in! She loves horses and lately has been riding her stick-pony around the house alot. She also pretends to be a horse all the time. Christian even got in on the action. He only sat on top of the horse.

After horsey rides we got everybody ready to head over to the Ice Cream Social in Alpine. It was a kick off to summer and the upcoming play "Cinderella" at the local theater in July. The kids had a great time and LOVED the ice cream. I got them balloons and they kept running around trying to play tag and other crazy games. The day had worn them out because it was so easy to put them in bed that night!

Finished Craft

I promised I would show the other letter project I was working on, so here it is. I replaced the 'i' with a little 4th of July figurine. I love it and it was so fun to do! Can't wait till July to put out my new stuff!

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day to a Dad who taught me and helped me how to work hard, to finish something you start, how to love the gospel, that practice makes perfect (or close to it), how to serve diligently, develop my talents, and that life is an adventure. Thanks Dad for all that you have taught me and continue to teach me. I love you!

To a wonderful father, who loves his kids dearly, who makes them laugh, who plays with them, who takes time out to talk to them and listen to them. Thanks for being such a wonderful dad! We love you tons!

Layne was hesitant to wear his 1st official Father's Day tie, but
wore it proudly as any dad would!

Thanksgiving Point Animal Farm

Last Friday we all were dying to get out of the house and have some fun. It had been a long week because my family were re-doing the wood floors in the house and they couldn't live there for about 3 days. So we had some sleep-overs and others stayed in hotels. So it was crazy and we needed some space to run and have fun in the sun. The kids loved the animals. Julia's favorite part was getting to ride the ponies. She picked the one with the braids in its hair because she had her hair braided that day. Christian loved being out in the sun and looking at the animals. I enjoyed the wagon ride the most. It was relaxing and we had fun.

Getting Crafty

My sister got me a couple of craft projects to do for my birthday and this is the result of one of them. I still need to add a few ribbons to dress it up a little but it was really fun to do. Over Thanksgiving we did a similar letter project with all the girls and Sherry. It was a lot of fun and so that gave us inspiration to try out some more letter projects. I love the 4th of July and all the Red, White and Blue themed decor. So I can't wait to put it up in the house! I'll have to show the other project we will be doing soon too. Can't wait......gives me something to do!

Having a Little Fun

Got the kids having a good time playing with Christians toys. Julia loves to play with his toys a little more than her own?? But she shares with Christian and he loves to interact with her :)

New Food

We started Christian on baby food about a week ago. I'm not real consistent with it but need to be so he can have more of a routine and get use to the new food. We started with a little rice cereal, a little bland but he seemed to do okay with that. We did that for a few days and then switched to oatmeal and added in a little applesauce. Boy, he sure pucked up when the applesauce kicked in. We are just trying out the oatmeal with fruit mixed in first and go from there. He seems to enjoy sitting in his chair but its really hard to keep him still enough to even eat. He loves to rock back and forth and then that gets the food everywhere. I am also trying to use sign language again like I did with Julia. It worked really well for her and so hopefully Christian will like it too! We just start with the basics like eat, more, all done, and milk.

He had the same face in every picture

"You want me to eat that?"

"I don't know about this?"

New Camera

I love my new camera I got for my birthday! It's been fun to try and learn how to use it. Some many settings and some many things to remember. I think I finally got the basics down and I have to keep reading and trying out all the other stuff. But I was at the park the other day and was able to bring my camera to play around with it and here are some results........

The Wonderpets

I felt like I was right in the middle of a Wonder Pets episode today. Julia was in her room for quiet time and I was finally sitting down to relax when I kept hearing birds fluttering outside the window. So I took a peek outside and a baby robin had fallen down our window well and was chirping and trying to fly out.
Save the Baby Robin!
I called Julia out to come look and she was so excited. We went outside to see if there where any other birds around, a nest, or a momma bird, but nothing. So we went back in and tried to figure out how to get it out. I decided to pop open the screen, but how to catch it? I didn't want to touch it and so I grabbed a juice pitcher and went to catch the bird. I trapped it and put the lid on it. We ran outside and went to the back of our yard and opened the lid. I had to kinda pour the bird out and then it hopped away.
The bird is still in the pitcher
Its hard to see but the bird is on the mound of dirt.
Julia wanted to keep checking on it to make sure it was alright but it had hopped away. I really hope it finds a momma bird so it can be safe :)
Wonder Pets, wonder Pets, we're on our way to help a baby robin and save the day. We're not to big and we're not to tough but when we work together we got the right stuff. GOOO Wonder Pets.....Yeah!

Christian 6 months

6 months old and he is sitting up like a pro. He still has some balance issues but does a pretty good job. Christian is growing right on course. We had a 6 month check up and he weighs 16 lbs. 13 oz. so almost 17 pounds (wow, big boy!) and he is 26 in. long. They always measure his head and of course he is in the 85% with his huge noggin. So he is doing great and did really well with his shots he barely even cried this time, which makes me happy. He is on a pretty good routine, having a morning nap and a few afternoon naps and usually goes to bed around 7-8pm. He does well sleeping but doesn't sleep through the night yet. But sleeps in good stretches 5-6 hours at a time. He loves to be rocked to sleep and I love to hold him and have him sleep in my arms.

Christian loves to play in his "chair". He can't quite reach the bottom so he stands on a box! He can get that thing rockin and rollin. He loves to rock it back and forth and stomp his feet. He is obsessed with the balls that go down a little chute.

He has recently found his feet and can keep himself entertained with trying to grab them. While trying to grab his feet he loves to squack and babble. He is talking a lot more and he is starting to say the ba-ba sound. He loves to put his hands in his mouth and mine too!

Christian is a pro at rolling over but only to one side. Once he gets on his tummy he doesn't like to stay there to long and gets mad. I keep telling him if he would just roll back over he would be happy. He is certainly getting better at sitting up. At about 5 1/2 months he was doing the slouch and as soon as he hit the 6 month mark he can sit straight up. While sitting he loves to try and look around and play with his toys.

This is Christian's favorite thing to do! He loves to sit on your knee and just move, move, move. RIDE'M COWBOY! Maybe he has a future in the rodeo? One Sunday in Relief Society he sat on my knee the whole meeting and just rode my knee. It must have worn him out because he came home and slept for 3 hours.

Its going to be a fun summer with him. I can't wait to see him explore the world. We will be attempting to start eating baby food and he should be getting some teeth pretty soon. He loves to be outside and is so happy when I take him around in the sling. We go to see the ducks often and he just kicks and babbles when he sees them. He gets so excited when he does or see's something new.

LIKES:
Eating
Playing with toys
Sitting Up in the Bath
Playing in his 'chair'
Being outside
Riding on your knee
Being rocked to sleep

DISLIKES:
Going to sleep on his own
Loud noises
Being left alone
