Julia's 1st BYU Game

Today we got invited to go with Layne's cousins to the 1st home BYU football game, BYU vs. Weber State. We thought it would be fun to bring all the kids and just have a good time. We kinda picked a game that we knew we wouldn't have to watch to closely and they would score a lot.

It's game day!
We headed down early with Julia and she was excited. We told her that before the game we would go and see all the fun stuff they did before the game. We played a few games where Julia got to spin the wheel for some prizes. She had a great time. Then we saw the BYU cheerleaders and they were painting a 'Y' on peoples faces and Julia had to do that. She also got to see Cosmo and get a picture of him. She was so excited to meet him and we got a good picture. During the game she would always be on the look out for Cosmo and would point him out every time she saw him.

We headed in and grabbed something to eat. We told Julia about the 'cougar tails' and she was excited to get one. Its a huge maple donut bar and its extra long like a cougar's tail. We all had a little of that to eat since it was big enough for everybody.

We had a big hike up to the very top of the north end zone where our seats where. It certainly was a nice day but way to hot. Julia kept saying to us she was sweating and was worried about her 'Y' coming off. By the end of the 1st quarter we had to hit some shade. We walked around the stadium and bought some hats to keep Layne and Julia a bit more cool. We hiked back up to our seats right before half time to watch them score. Julia would watch the ball into the end zone and then signal touch down. Then the fight song would play and she would clap right along and stand up at the right parts. Her favorite part is at the end when you shout rah rah ,rah rah rah, gooooooo cougars!! She loved doing that each time they scored.

During half time we noticed some shady spots in the stadium and decided to go switch our seats so we would get heat stroke watching the 2nd half. So after yet another hike down and then back up we finally were able to watch a little of the game and enjoy it in the shade.

I asked Julia what she liked most about going to the game and she said, getting the Y painted on her face, and meeting Cosmo and watching the game. She said she LOVED all of it. I'm glad she had a good experience and had fun. She did a good job watching the game and learning about it. She never complained once about wanted to go home, only that it was way to hot. I told her we would have to maybe go again some time and she was excited to hear that. She said maybe we could go to a basketball game and asked if she had ever been to the basketball arena and I said I don't think you've ever been there but maybe we can go sometime.

It was a fun day and a great experience. GO COUGARS!!
