Flashback Friday

So I am at least blogging once a week I will try to do a blog at least every friday. Hopefully with a funny or memorable picture I find from the past. So I'm starting with this one. I'm not sure of the year I think its actually Christmas 1997. My sisters and I ending up taking a few funny photos with these glasses on? I think we got them for halloween and just decided to pull them out and see how silly we would look. Correction. We actually got the glasses in our stockings this year. This is the serious but wide eyed picture! I have a few others but this was the best one. I think we all lived at home at this point. I was still at BYU and Kristy was in college too, I think? Kasey and Amy were both still in high school. Man this seems like forever ago. Anyway, good memories with my sisters!!

Julia's New Profession? Talent?

When Julia was a little smaller she loved to get into the utensil draw and line up all the measuring cups and spoons and just play with the bowls all day long. I got tired of washing them everyday so my mom bought Julia her own set of utensils awhile back. Lately, Julia will want to watch what I am cooking for dinner or whenever I use the 'big' mixer she loves to watch and add ingredients to the bowl. I usually give her the spoon afterwords to try out our creations. Most of the time she will come out to see what I am doing and say "up" so I have to lift her up to see what I am making. If something is in the microwave she loves to push the buttons or open the door for me when the buzzer goes off. So anyway, the last few days or so she will want to play with her utensils by saying, "cook, cook" she will proceed to get out a few big mugs or bowls and mix the pretend creation in her bowl. And while she is mixing them she will say, "cooking, cooking." I like to ask her what she is making and it will usually be cookies. The other day I put my apron on her and then asked her what she was making today and she actually said fish?? I think because she actually was stirring up her goldfish crackers in the bowl. Its so neat to see her mimick the things I do each day. What a great capacity to learn. I admire the minds of these young children so willing to learn and eager to try new things.

Temples Continued

My sister and I visited the Bountiful Temple for the month of May. It was a quick trip up after work one day. It looks exactly like the Mt. Timpanogos Temple, same layout but just a different color scheme inside. It was great to spend the day with my sister.

Then for the month of June my mom, 2 sisters, and I ran down to St. George for the weekend to visit 2 temples in one month. It was a nice little get-a-way with just the "girls" and we had fun in the car on the way down reminiscing about growing up. So we headed out on Friday and hit the St. George Temple on that night, spent the night and then got up the next day to drive to the Manti Temple. It was a nice and cool few days and we enjoyed see these two temples. The grounds around the St. George Temple were very big and beautiful. It was at dusk when we got our pictures and it was a beautiful setting. We love to see what all the celestial rooms will look like. The St. George, Manti and Salt Lake all have the same feel. Its like you stepped back in time. Its neat to see the contrast between each temple. Each are unique and beautiful in there own rite. It was a great trip and I have to give some love for Layne who stayed home and took care of Julia for me all day. He was beat when I got home but I really do appreciate his willingness to watch Julia so that I can accomplish my goal!! Thanks Sweetie!

The Park, Ice Cream and Swimming

Its been awhile since I have updated this thing....as someone said I don't update this often enough. Sorry!! Half the time I just don't know what to put on here but since its been about a month I have a few things I can add.
Julia would live outside or in the water if given the choice. She loves the park and most days will wake up saying, "swing, swing." I know I'm in for a big day pushing her and following her down the slides at the park. Its a good thing because it will usually tire her out for nap time :)

Julia loves ice cream. I was making a cone for myself one night and was going to share with Julia. As soon as I brought it out and sat down she wanted to hold it all by herself. I said "no" and of course a meltdown occured. So this was the solution. We gave her one of her own and set her outside on the deck with her OWN cone and let her have at it.

For about a week in May it was actually warm enough to play outside in the water. Layne came home one Saturday and surprised Julia with this little pool. Once again we set it up on the deck and filled it up with some warm water and away she went. She was out there for at least an hour. We finally had to bring her in because she was shivering so badly. Its been so cool here lately that we haven't been able to fill up the pool again and let her play. I'm sure it won't be long and we will be spending most of the day in the water. Either here in our pool or over at the big one!!
